We picked up this ’51 Merc for a client’s second car he commissioned us to build. We chopped the top, and added a ’49 Merc rear window. The rear side windows will be electric pop-out. Signature to Cambra Speed Shop, the bumpers were all worked to perfection, we finessed the nose, deck and cleaned up the engine bay. A slight lip on the front wheel openings as a nod to the famous Hirohata Mercury built by the Barris Brothers in 1953. The finely tuned grille opening features 11 Desoto “teeth” that align perfectly with the front bumper valance.
Once complete with fabrication, the car was digitally scanned in it’s entirety to create the window moldings, custom side trim, and dash trim.
Inside the car is treated with a ’65 Thunderbird wrap-around rear seat and a custom floor, tunnel and dash treatment. Under the hood is a modern Ford Coyote and the entire car sits on a Roadster Shop Chassis with air ride suspension. Follow along as we finish this car up. It is in our final assembly shop getting all put together.
